Helping you to overcome heroin addiction through my own experience, strength, and hope.

How can inpatient drug rehab help me to stop using painkillers or heroin?

First of all inpatient treatment will provide a safe environment for you where you will be around other addicts just like yourself who are trying to learn how to live life without the use of drugs.

The first step to recovering from drug addiction is admitting that a problem exists and then surrendering that you can no longer use drugs successfully no matter how hard you try. Once you can do this recovery is possible.

What happens in drug rehab? While you there a staff of trained professionals will be there to monitor your progress as well as see to your needs and make you as comfortable as possible during your stay in inpatient substance abuse rehab.

How to detox from vicodin and heroin

If you are detoxing from drugs like Vicodin or heroin you will be given other prescription medications that will help ease the pain and discomfort of your withdrawal symptoms. It has been my experience that once these medications take affect the withdrawal pain will be relieved.

This process should take around five days to complete but this is only the beginning of your drug addiction recovery because the next step is residential treatment.

In residential treatment you will be required to attend 12 step meetings, group therapy, lectures, watch recovery related videos, and go to substance abuse counseling. That idea is that you will learn enough to help you stay clean and sober when you leave rehab.

I would suggest for you leave treatment to get together what your counselor come up with an aftercare plan. A lot of people like to continue with their substance counseling and 12 step meetings if this is your goal what you need to do is make an appointment with your therapist or find one and make an appointment. If you plan to attend NA or AA meetings then you will want to find out when and where the meetings are and write down the ones you plan on attending.

Recovery is a process if you have relapsed in the past put it behind you and start over again never give up. I have heard a lot of people including myself say that its embarrassing to come back from a relapse and share about it. Well think at it like this at least you got the chance because a lot of folks never get that chance because they died from a drug overdose or are spending the rest of their lives in prison for a drug related crime.

Good luck
