How to use Vicodin withdrawal symptoms to overcome addiction

Many people do not understand the vicodin withdrawal will produce a huge range of withdrawal symptoms if it has been used for an extended period of time and then one suddenly discontinues or stops using this medication abruptly.

Can I become addicted to vicodin? I was prescribed this medication by my doctor. The answer is yes anyone one may become addicted to vicodin many people who take this drug can and do become addicted. When they find this out one of there first questions would be how can I stop using vicodin.

If you happen to be one of these individuals the best thing you can do is talk with your prescribing physician. They can decide what for of vicodin addiction treatment you will need. It could be as simple as tapering off of vicodin or it could involve going to an opiate rehab.

Now how bad your withdrawal actually is will depend on a couple factors one of which is how much you were taking every day and the second is how long you have been taking it.

Symptoms of vicodin withdrawal include:

· Muscle aches and pains

· Tearing

· Stomach cramping

· Frequent yawning

· Sweating

· Chills

· Nausea and vomiting

· Diarrhea

· Goose pimples

· Insomnia

· Anxiety

· Runny nose

Keep in mind that withdrawing from this medication is not life threatening now on the other hand if you are an alcoholic too then it could possibly be so you will want to defiantly go to rehab to be detoxed from vicodin and alcohol.

I think that the best way for most people to quit vicodin would be by going to some type of vicodin withdraw treatment facility or opiate rehab.

Cold turkey vicodin

I know some of you can not afford to go to drug rehab and may not even have gotten this medicine from a doctor but it is possible to go vicodin cold turkey.
If you are going to use this method here are some suggestions and it is the way I have kicked them and other opiate drugs like methadone.

First of all you will want to stay awake as much as possible before starting I would recommend a couple of days at least. The theory behind this is that it should help you to sleep through the worst of the withdrawal.

Next you will want to find someone to come stay with you while you detox from vicodin this can be a friend or loved one.

Now you will want to go to a drug store and get some over the counter medications like Benadryl, in case you still can not sleep, Imodium for diarrhea, and Motrin for leg cramps and headaches. Then you are good to go.

Good luck
