Helping you to overcome heroin addiction through my own experience, strength, and hope.

Treatment for heroin addiction using the rapid detox method

I believe some people would prefer going to treatment for heroin addiction as opposed to going cold turkey heroin. One must be entirely ready to stop using heroin because some of these heroin detox’s are quite expensive but don’t not let this dissuade you from getting help because there is always the option of free rehab. That’s right I did say free imagine that going to treatment for nothing how can you beat that? You can’t!

One way a person can stop using and go to treatment which is called Rapid Detox or RAD which stands for rapid antagonist detox aptly named because this procedure uses a heroin antagonist like narcon to remove any opiates from the body. This is all done in a couple or hours while one is asleep from anesthesia. When the patient wakes up their heroin rapid detox will be complete.

Then will then be taken to a room where they will recover will probably be watched by nurses for a couple of days. I will add here that the patient may not remember a thing about their heroin withdrawal. If you decide to do this you will be medically detoxed from heroin by a staff of people who are specifically trained for this procedure.

This all sounds good but if you are a very heavy heroin user I would not recommend this procedure. This type of rapid detox also has risks some patients have died from being under for to long so you may want to think long and hard about this.

One other major drawback to RAD at this time is that it is very expensive some places are charging in the neighborhood of $8,000. Therefore this type of treatment will not be for everyone.

Withdrawal from heroin at home without medication

I think one of the hardest things a heroin addict will have to do is withdrawal from heroin. This is not to be taken lightly but at the same time it is not as bad as what you see in the movies. Hollywood is famous for blowing things out of proportion therefore there is a myth about withdrawal from heroin. It all depends on how you go about quitting heroin. If you kick at home there is no question that it will tax your body and mind.

If you do decide to withdrawal from heroin at home then one must be prepared to face the symptoms of heroin withdrawal these will include but are not limited to stomach and leg cramps, headache, diarrhea, insomnia, craving heroin, goose bumps and anxiety, and lastly the desire to give up and go use.

OK let’s say you decide you are going to go this route I have found it best to have someone stay with me during this time. They are great support for the heroin addict. Now you can get a few things that will help you with your withdrawal from heroin like Benadryl this will help you to sleep also get some Motrin for your leg cramps and headaches.

Were it me and trust me it has been I would force myself to stay awake the day before I intend to stop using heroin. This just may help you too sleep through the worst of your heroin withdrawal.

One thing that I would include in my plans which I would considet is a must is that what are you going to do once you finish with your detox heroin I mean are you going to attend NA meetings or go to individual addiction counseling? It is necessary to make a schedule of the meetings you will be attending as well as any therapy sessions you may be having.

Another option is going to heroin rehab there you can withdrawal from heroin by being detoxed for heroin medically. Then when that is finished you can attend residential treatment. This is a great way to go with little or no pain at all. Which ever way you choose you must take action.

Good luck

Do you have a loved one that could benefit from Heroin rehab

I know people that have never went to treatment of any kind they said that they live in the streets and will die a junkie in the streets. This is a shame its not that they don’t know about heroin rehab they simply have no desire to go. They are aware of the consequences of when they run out of dope they understand they will be sick. One of my street friends who died from heroin in the streets use to tell me that it was all in my head to a point he was right. What about the stomach and leg cramps though.

If you want to stop using heroin then why not consider drug rehab clinic London ?I am sure that you do not wish to die in the streets. If you can not afford heroin rehab there is help available called free rehab yup you read this right free rehab this is incredible. There is no reason for a heroin addict to go untreated.

Do you know someone that could benefit from heroin addiction rehab?

If you have the desire to stop using and find a new way to live look for a heroin rehab near you today. This can be done over the internet or in your phone book. First thing to do is give them a call and tell them of your situation and your desire to stop using you will want to find out if they have a heroin detox as well as residential treatment. This are necessary components for most heroin addicts. Once you have made your appoint the next step will be going.

When you get to heroin rehab you will be detoxed for heroin by a staff of trained people. They will make you as comfortable as possible. Once you are finished its on to residential. There you will go to individual counseling, group, lectures, and see videos about recovery. When you leave treatment have a plan. Like where and when you will attend meetings.

Heroin side effects

I think a lot of people may be interested in heroin side effects so I am going to share a little bit about my experience with this today. I have experienced them so many times that I can not even give you an accurate number. It may only take 7 days of heavy heroin using to experience these side effects.

I would suggest that if you have only been using for a short time to quit before you have to go through this because it is by no means a pleasant experience in other words get out while the getting good.

Here is a list of heroin side effects

1. Stomach cramps.

2. Headache.

3. Heroin withdrawal

4. Goose flesh.

5. Diarrhea.

6. Vomiting.

7. Insomnia.

8. Leg cramps

9. Nervousness and irritability.

10. Cravings or wanting to use.

11. Loss of appetite.

12. Possible dehydration.

13. One could become disorientated.

These are all common heroin side effects they are all the signs of heroin addiction but you can get help for heroin side effects. If you are experiencing these symptoms then you may want to get help. Heroin side effects are not fatal unless one has serious health problems.

I do know for certain that a person only need experience this once. That’s right you can get clean the first time it does not take a lifetime of using to stop like it did me. If you are going through this I would suggest that you go to a treatment center that offers heroin detox. There they will be able to detox you from heroin medically. This is a great way to stop using heroin.

Propoxyphene for opioid withdrawal

I decided today to write about well kept secret for the use of Propoxyphene for opiate withdrawal. With the new wave drugs like vicodin which more than likely work better for pain relief I don’t think the drug Dextropropoxyphene made by Eli Lilly incorporation is prescribed to often these days. This drug is sometimes combined with acetaminophen. Trade names include Darvocet –N, Di-Gesic and Darvon with APAP. This drug is basically classified as an opioid and is used to treat mild pain it is however habit forming or addictive.

Dextropropoxyphene in its pure form is sometimes used on patients for opioid withdrawal from drugs that are stronger the reason for this is that it does not have as bad mental cravings but still helps with the physical withdrawal from drugs like hydrocodone. Propoxyphene has also been found to be very helpful in persons with restless leg syndrome.

One thing abusers of propoxyphene need to be aware of is that because of using large doses of the drug to relive pain it can cause liver damage. I would suggest that one does not drink while on this medication.

I have never personally tried propoxyphene for opiate withdrawal although this does not mean that it will not help. In my opinion it is not a very effective pain reliever but on the other hand it could very well be affective for withdrawal from drugs like vicodin;

Heroin withdrawal treatment can help you overcome addiction and find recovery

I like to write about how to help heroin addicts to overcome heroin addiction. Most of the people who are searching about heroin are trying to find out more about heroin withdrawal treatment. The thing with that type of search is you have to do a little reading once you find what your looking for, therefore today I will offer some insight about what to expect if you go to heroin withdrawal treatment.

1. This would be your average residential treatment with a medical detox. If you choose to quit using heroin this way you can be detoxed by trained professionals. They will use medications to help with your heroin withdrawal treatment. This is great and I have done this a few times myself. They normally use subutex at first and then they taper you to suboxone this process normally takes from 3 to 5 days. I will add that you probably will feel some discomfort at first but nothing overwhelming. The reason for this is it takes time for the drugs to kick in once they have you will feel fine.

Once you have finished this step you can move on to residential treatment. There you will attend lectures, watch videos, attend groups, one on one therapy, and lastly attend NA meetings. This program is usually lasts around 14 to 21 days although because of insurance purposes a lot of treatment centers have cut back on this number.

Have a exit plan

When you are getting close to leaving I would strongly suggest that you come up with a plan on how you intend to stay clean in the real world once you leave rehab. This plan should include where the local meetings are and what days and time you plan on attending meetings "Hint do 90 in 90." Another idea is to make sure that all your using friends know that you are clean and will not be bothering with them any longer. I would also plan on doing some addiction therapy once a week. This should be a good start for any heroin addict.

Once you get out and start attending meetings you should look for a sponsor. A sponsor is there to support and guide you through the steps nothing more. If you happen to make friends with them this is an added bonus.

Heroin withdrawal treatment may save your life so why not look for a place to get clean now.

Good luck

Big internet News -Using Heroin to treat heroin addiction is ridiculous

OK the latest internet news is that they are attempting to treat heroin addicts with heroin. That is just nuts. Sure I bet it sounds good to a lot of junkies that are still out there hustling to get one more bag of heroin but let’s be for real would it work. I seriously doubt it.

Anyway they say that it would cut down on cost I don’t know about that because if people are shooting heroin they would have to have a medical staff ready for overdose. In the experiment some of the people did overdose. Lets see how people respond to this new wave heroin treatment.

What do you think about this?

In my opinion the best way to stop using heroin is to go to long term treatment there you will be able to find out just what the real problem is and why you continue to use heroin. I know it worked for me.

What is my best option forHeroin addiction recovery

Most of us do not begin living in the answer to heroin addiction recovery.

I think that I more or less evolved into this new way of life. When we tell are life story in N A we usually begin at the beginning and explain what it was like then and how we got to the point we are at today plus we also tell what life is like now that we are clean.

What my life was like then

I started using drugs when I was around 16. I thought I was being cool or hip, I think that was the word for it back then which was around 1972. My neighbor happened to be selling dope at the time and this is how I got started because in truth I wanted to be like him I thought he was the stuff. My family did not do drugs and drank very little. I believe I got hooked on heroin about 2 years later after using it for at least a year this is when I ran out and went through my first heroin withdrawal.

Looking back I used drugs to fit in and be able to socialize with others especially women. In the beginning using was a blast but in the end it became something I had to do. The old say goes "all good things must come to and end" lets just rephrase this with all fun things because no good ever comes directly out of using. My dream was to have mounds and mounds of drugs enough to last me the rest of my life. Luckily this never happened because I know myself I would have dove right in and never made it out alive.

I have to say that I was afraid to face life without drugs or alcohol. I had to basically use to come out of the house. Then things changed and I found another fear the fear of running out of drugs was terrifying.

My first attempt at heroin addiction recovery

I was when I was around 32 I was living with my parents because I had no other place to go anyway I got in some kind of trouble and my step dad told me that if I did not get help I was going to have to leave. He did offer to pay for my stay if I wanted to go to treatment it did not take long for me to make up my mind because like I said earlier I had no place else to go so I went to rehab.

I think it was like a 90 day program. I did manage to stay clean until I hooked up with a chick in recovery anyway that’s another story in a different part of my heroin addiction recovery.

I made many trips to rehab since then with a lot of heroin detox in-between 21 day treatment programs. I finally had enough the disease had drained me of all I had and I surrendered to the fact that I needed more help this is when I went to long term treatment.

I stayed for 2 years and learned to live a new way of life I even went back to school and I am still going today. I don’t have much farther to go and I will have my bachelor degree. I hope this was helpful to someone.

Good luck

Think your loved one is using here are Heroin symptoms to lookout for

I think a lot of people are wondering what the are heroin symptoms? Almost immediately after injection or smoking heroin it will cross your brain blood barrier where it is then converted to morphine this is simply amazing how this all works but anyway more times than not the user will feel a rush of intense euphoria or in other words pleasure.

This mostly occurs when heroin is injected for this reason it is very addictive plus it is a chronic, progressive, and fatal disease. Once a person becomes addicted to heroin their compulsive behavior takes over and often leads them to trouble many end up in prison for drug related crimes.

Other heroin symptoms to lookout for may include

Nodding- This is will look like the person is falling asleep but they wake up a lot this can even happen while the person is standing up.

Euphoria- A rush of pleasure after ingesting heroin.

Drowsness- Looks very sleepy eyes are like slits.

Nausea and vomiting- This frequently happens with new heroin users it is actually the body’s way of rejecting the drug.

Pin point or constricted pupils

Tollerance- This happens when one has been using for a while they will need more heroin to get the same effect. This is one of the first signs of heroin addiction.

Itching- This is a sure sign of a using addict a give away.

OK lets move on a little to what you can do if you or someone you know has these heroin symptoms and have become addicted to heroin.

Here's the thing if you can not afford to go to heroin treatment you will have to go heroin cold turkey. This may be one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life but let me tell you it is worth it and best of all you will remember it well this is good also because it will remind you that you never want to go through it again.

One thing I can tell you is that from my experience this will not easy because you probably will have no drugs to help you with heroin withdrawal.

First thing you need to do is remove all your burnt spoons, needles, and other paraphernalia. Next I would get some Gator Aid for your thirst because you will be sweating a lot and you will need to replenish your body with fluids it is very important to keep hydrated. Then I would buy some Motrin and Tylenol for headache and cramps and maybe some Kaopeptate for diarrhea.

During this process be prepared for stomach and leg cramps, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, goose bums, hot and cold sweats and chills.

Lastly I would invite a friend or a family member to come stay with you because they can help get you things and be there for moral support as well as to help keep you from using again because as sure as I am sitting here at some point you will want to give up and use they can help you not to.

Good luck with this and we encourage questions so do not hesitate to ask.

Heroin treatment can help you stop using drugs

A person is presented with a few options for heroin treatment when it comes right down to ending the nightmare of using the drug. The options I will present to you today will differ in terms of cost and how much pain you are actually willing to go through to get clean.

Number one heroin cold turkey

I would have to say that to stay home and lie around and watch TV for a week and go through heroin cold turkey by gritting your teeth and holding on for dear life is by far the most unpleasant. A lot of us do not have much of a say in this matter because we simply do not have insurance, or there is not any viable funding available. Maybe we do not have that kind of money and simply can’t afford to go to heroin treatment.

If one does choose to go this way there are several things you can do that may help you along the way that could make a difference in how you feel. A lot of addicts suffer from leg cramps and so forth, for this you can take Motrin. Another thing you may want to get is some type of diarrhea medication. One could also get some thing like Benadryl to help them sleep. I will add that all of this medication can be purchased over the counter. Other than that there is not a whole lot you can do with this type of detox.

Inpatient treatment

If you want a safe place to go through heroin withdrawal then inpatient treatment can be very helpful for easing the pain of withdrawal and helping you to get a little clean time under your belt. They do this by detoxing you in a medical part of the facility and administering medications that can help control the detox symptoms. I would have to say that this will beat the other method of heroin detox hands down but it will be expensive. If you do choose to do this put your all into it so you can stay clean and do not have to go through withdrawal again.
Some places that do this the detox from heroin takes approximately 4 or 5 days and it is done in an area where you will be very comfortable and able to lie in bed if you choose. The next step is residential treatment. There you will attend meetings and watch videos plus attend groups. Let me just add here do not get involved with any of the females. I have seen this happen time and time again patients hooking up in rehab it does not work. I know you think you are different. I was different too and I still used again because of this.Maybe this will help you in early recovery just remember that under every "skirt there is a slip." It is very important to take full advantage of this opportunity because if you don't as sure as I am sitting here writing this you will find yourself using again.

Heroin ultra rapid detox

This is the last option I will present to you today and it is very costly at this time. Insurance will not cover this procedure so you can forget that right now. It is a relatively new procedure. This is done in an outpatient facility where they will put you under and remove all the drugs from your system. When you when wake up your heroin withdrawal is complete and you probably will not remember it at all. I know this must sound too good to be true.
In my opinion it is just to easy by this I mean you don’t have to put in any effort to get clean so you will probably not be willing to put much effort into staying clean and more than likely relapse.

Good luck to all with this.

How to stop using vicodin

Stop using vicodin

It’s pretty east to get yourself into the habit of abusing vicodin. Most people have or will have some pain in their lives due to injury or otherwise. This is the part that may be a problem unless you are aware of it and that is why I am writing this post to make people aware of vicodin and the potential for abuse.

Ok when you do get pain in your everyday life and decide to go to the Dr. there is a very good chance that you will be prescribed vicodin or something similar. When this happens you may find yourself taking more of the medication than was actually prescribed; for instance you are supposed to take one or two tablets every 6 hrs. and now you find yourself taking this dose every couple of hours this can lead to vicodin addicton.

If you or someone you know think you may have a vicodin problem and want to learn how to stop using vicodin continue reading this post.

One way to stop using vicodin is go to vicodin treatment what I would do is look for a vicodin treatment rehab in your area. Then make arrangements to go in to detox from vicodin. Once there they will medically detox you this will be done by people who are specially trained in this are so do not worry you will be in good hands. This is one of the best ways to stop using vicodin and go through vicodin withdrawal.

Once you finish your detox you will want to make sure you continue with residential treatment. I can not speak strongly enough about this because your chances of remaining clean without It are slim and none.

If you can not remain clean after this then there is the option of long term vicodin addiction treatment They usually run from 6 months to 2 years. I would say without a doubt the longer you stay the better. I went to long term treatment and stayed the full 2 years. What a life saver that was. I learn a lot about myself while I was there and even went back to school you can do this too. One thing is for certain if you want to get clean you will have to take action because no one can do it for you.
