Today instead of hunting for a bag of heroin I did something that I enjoyed to do in my past when I was clean. I went for a walk in the woods looking for morel mushrooms.
I did not find any today it was not my usual spot but I had heard that they were out and could not wait to go so I to a walk in the woods near my home.
Matter of fact Ive been obsessed with thinking about doing some morel hunting as soon as it got warm here.

I can tell you I really enjoyed it and got some real nice exercise and I just though of something else while writing this my mind was so free I did not smoke a cigarette the entire time.

once a day many years ago and I still call him several times a week just to
check in and let him know how I am doing. The first few times I tried it I was
scared because I was telling myself that I did not know what to say to him
sometimes the phone felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.
Missing meetings
This is the best way in the world to relapse. We need to stay plugged in to
other recovering addicts by going to meetings.
Poor eating habits
When we get to hungry it throws our system out of whack the other program
recommends that we not get to hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. Poor sleeping habits
When we stay up alight watching movies and are tired all day long we start
thinking of things to make us feel better. When we start doing these things we
open the door to relapse.

could write a book on the number of times I relapsed.I believe it is necessary to come up with a relapse prevention plan.
One of the best ways to prevent relapse is going to 12 step meetings such as

I relapsed so many times that I lost count but the thing is

time around but I am thinking that more do not.
Now massive action involves stepping up your meeting
attendance and if you are not going then you had better start. Do something to
help another addict is always great for instance pick them up for a meeting. There are
also many places where you can do volunteer work. It does not really matter
what you do. Come up with your own addiction recovery plan.

In recovery it is necessary to think ahead. What I mean by this we need to make short and long term goals.
For instance make a commitment of something you would you like to do for your recovery in 90 days.

My 1 year goal is to complete my bachelors degree although it may take 18 months that's OK.
In 5 years I would like to have completed my masters degree and be working in the SWRK field maybe even substance abuse.
Ok now it is up to you write out a list of goals for yourself and make them realistic. Once you have completed this post them somewhere in your house you are likely to see them frequently.
If your just limit yourself to going to meetings you will miss out on a whole lot. My idea of recovery is that we must push ourselves to do new things in all areas of our lives.
This would include mentally, spiritually, physically, and I will throw in nutritionally.
If you work to include these things to all areas of your life I am willing to bet you that you will feel happy joyous and free from heroin addiction.
If you keep using heroin you are going to end up looking worse than this dog.
The last time I quit using heroin I looked dirtball bad. My cheeks were sucked in and I was down to around 100 lbs and going through severe heroinwithdrawal.
